On the Magic Trackpad

So, the Magic Trackpad is pretty much exactly what everyone expected it to be: A large, aluminum and glass external trackpad designed to bring MacBook-like gestures to the iMac experience.

I like the idea. I haven’t used a desktop computer in forever, and now I’m so used to the MacBook Pro’s Multi-Touch™ glass trackpad and its gesture-based interface that I would feel at home using something like an iMac. Not that I need one, though. As Steve Jobs said, desktops are now the pickup trucks of the computer hardware world.

Best of all, the Magic Trackpad is kind of funky (I don’t know why I feel that way; call me a weirdo if you like). Part of that may be because it’s a new class of product that was announced so subtly. It just seems like a unique and, dare I say it, cool addition to Apple’s lineup.
