So, Jobs Knew?
According to a number of sources around the interwebs, senior Apple engineer Ruben Caballero warned Steve Jobs about potential problems with the iPhone 4’s antenna design. His concerns were voiced as much as a year ago, when development of the new hardware began.
Apparently, Jobs loved the design so much that he waved away Caballero (known for being an expert on antenna design) and his worries. That decision is a testament to how focused Jobs is on his vision for Apple’s products, as well as the company as a whole.
Only this time, that aggressive desire to make things the way he wants them to be came back to bite him in the ass. Let’s see where this press conference takes us.
UPDATE: At today’s press conference, Steve Jobs himself stated that the article on Bloomberg that started this story is inaccurate. He assured us that he would have sent people to solve the problem if he was alerted of one. Do you believe him?
(Just so you know, updates don’t violate the three paragraph rule.)
